Veteran Nigerian actor Dele Odule has revealed that he once considered quitting acting after struggling financially early in his career.

Dele Odule, who began acting in 1977, said he became discouraged when former classmates from Teacher Training College started making progress in other professions while he struggled to afford basic needs. He said the encouragement of his uncle, Muyiwa Sola, and his mentor, Baba Muyiwa, helped him remain committed to acting.

The actor also spoke about his passion for the profession, his art and tourist centre in Ijebu Ode, and his experience working with younger actors. He described the centre as a place for preserving history and showcasing traditional food, photographs, antiques and other cultural items, while also allowing filmmakers to use the location when it suits their stories.
