All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda has rejected claims that the ruling party protects its members from prosecution over corruption and other allegations. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Yilwatda said some APC members were facing legal proceedings and argued that party membership should not be used to deny anyone their fundamental rights.
Yilwatda also expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s electoral prospects, citing internal party polls that he claimed showed the APC ahead. He criticised opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), while defending the government’s tax reforms and electricity-sector policies. These assessments reflect the APC chairman’s position on the administration’s performance.
On internal party affairs, Yilwatda said the APC was using a three-part approach to address grievances arising from its election primaries. He added that the party leadership was reviewing the proposed presidential campaign council and expected to inaugurate it soon.
