Senate President Godswill Akpabio has urged northern youths to mobilise grassroots support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027. He made the call on Wednesday in Abuja during a meeting with members of the Arewa Revival Project, led by coordinator Mustafa Ibrahim.
Akpabio encouraged the group to engage young Nigerians and counter what he described as misinformation on social media. He also defended Tinubu’s economic policies, including tax reforms, arguing that the administration was working to reduce Nigeria’s dependence on crude oil. He said members of the National Assembly had endorsed the President for a second term.
On insecurity, Akpabio expressed optimism that state police could soon become a reality, saying constitutional amendments were nearing completion. He added that the proposed decentralised policing system could strengthen national security and assured the youths that Nigeria’s security challenges would eventually be overcome.
