Phrank Shaibu, Senior Special Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Public Communication, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, comparing the impact of its policies on Nigerians to the deadly Ebola virus. He alleged that rising costs have made food and medical care unaffordable and damaged businesses.
Shaibu’s comments followed a dispute between Atiku and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over ₦10 billion reportedly approved for Ebola emergency preparedness. Atiku had demanded details of the funds’ release and expenditure, while the APC Presidential Campaign Council maintained that the money remained untouched.
Shaibu challenged the federal government to publish financial records showing whether the funds were released, who controlled them and how they were used. He also demanded a clear timeline of the Ebola response, including when authorities were alerted and contact tracing began, insisting that Nigerians deserved answers about the government’s preparedness.
