Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has warned that the All Progressives Congress (APC) could struggle to win the 2027 elections if its members fail to remain united. He made the statement on Saturday during the inauguration of the Ondo State APC Presidential Election Campaign Council in Akure, urging party leaders and supporters to set aside their differences.
Aiyedatiwa said the party’s large membership and position in government would not guarantee victory without cooperation. He also urged APC members to learn from the internal divisions that have affected the Peoples Democratic Party, recalling how opposition groups united to form the APC ahead of its victory in the 2015 general election. He called on members to work together towards President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Ondo State Deputy Governor Olayide Adelami urged party members to intensify grassroots mobilisation, setting a target of one million votes for Tinubu in the state. The Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, and APC chairman Kolawole Babatunde also called for stronger mobilisation, with Babatunde expressing confidence in the party’s target and highlighting road projects under Aiyedatiwa’s administration.
