Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença has reaffirmed Cristiano Ronaldo’s importance to the national team despite his recent dispute with head coach Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo reportedly left Portugal’s training camp following comments made by Jesus during a press conference ahead of the UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.
Proença described the incident as a misunderstanding that requires an internal resolution. He stressed that Ronaldo’s performances and long-standing contribution to Portuguese football continue to justify his place in the national team whenever he is fit and available.
The federation president also highlighted Ronaldo’s strong connection with Portugal and its supporters, noting his continued commitment to the national team. With Portugal’s first four Nations League matches completed, Proença said there is now time for both sides to address the disagreement and resolve the matter.
