Anthony Joshua has predicted an early stoppage when he meets Tyson Fury in their highly anticipated heavyweight bout at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium on December 11. Speaking after meeting Fury in London, Joshua said he wants to deliver a decisive performance in front of British boxing fans.
Joshua said staging the fight in the United Kingdom was important to him and the supporters, although he insisted he would not have abandoned the contest if a UK venue had not been secured. When asked about his expected outcome, the former heavyweight champion responded: “A knockout, if I am honest with you. Could be in the first round.”
Fury has also promised an aggressive approach, saying he intends to turn the contest into a close-range battle rather than rely on a defensive strategy. Joshua, meanwhile, said he respects Fury’s movement and versatility and believes his own career will continue beyond the fight. The bout is scheduled to be contested for the WBA super heavyweight title and is expected to stream globally on Netflix.
