Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has disclosed that he fell into debt after spending more than ₦300 million on a cinema movie that failed to recover its production costs. He shared the experience during an October 19 interview on the African A List podcast, explaining how the project’s poor financial performance left him struggling to repay the money invested.

Jide Kosoko said the funds used to produce the movie came from people who contributed to support the project. However, its cinema earnings fell short of expectations, leaving the production unable to cover the amount spent on making it.

The actor added that the limited revenue generated was shared among those involved, leaving insufficient money to recover the investment. His account highlights the financial risks filmmakers can face when cinema releases fail to attract enough revenue to cover production expenses.
