The spokesman for Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Idris Zekeri, has dismissed reports claiming that the former Anambra State governor broke his neck in a gym accident and was hospitalised.
Zekeri, speaking in an interview with Punch on Sunday, described the reports and circulating photographs as false, accusing Peter Obi’s political opponents of spreading misinformation ahead of the 2027 presidential election. He maintained that Obi was in good health and said he was with him at about 7 am on Sunday before he boarded an international flight.
The spokesman added that Obi was safe and ready to continue engaging with Nigerians. However, he declined to disclose the destination of the flight, explaining that he had not been authorised to release the details.
