José Mourinho has secured his first El Clásico victory in his second spell as Real Madrid manager after guiding his team to a 2-1 win over Barcelona on Sunday night. The victory at Camp Nou was crucial for Madrid, who entered the match knowing a defeat could seriously damage their La Liga title hopes.
Real Madrid took the lead when the ball deflected into the net off Kylian Mbappé, but Barcelona responded through Raphinha in the 61st minute. Mbappé then struck again in the 87th minute to seal the victory for Mourinho’s side and hand Barcelona their first league defeat of the season.
Despite the loss, Barcelona remain top of La Liga with 27 points, while Real Madrid sit third with 24 points. The result keeps Madrid within three points of their rivals as the title race continues.
