The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has claimed that President Bola Tinubu bought his way into power during the 2023 presidential election. Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, Baba-Ahmed alleged that Nigerian President personally funded his campaign without financial contributions from Nigerians.

Baba-Ahmed also criticised Tinubu for allegedly failing to study Nigeria’s challenges adequately before assuming office. He argued that the president should have better understood the factors behind the country’s problems before implementing policies, while maintaining that Tinubu financed his own path to the presidency.

The PRP chairman also reacted to The President remark that he would not attend campaign rallies in every state ahead of the 2027 election, saying Nigerians were not surprised by the decision. The president had explained that he intended to focus on governance and the country’s financial obligations, while Baba-Ahmed accused his administration of running Nigeria aground.
