Governor Biodun Oyebanji has been sworn in for a second term as the Governor of Ekiti State, alongside his deputy, Chief Monisade Afuye. The ceremony took place on Friday at the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
The swearing-in was conducted by Ekiti State Chief Judge, Justice Lekan Ogunmoye. Oyebanji took the oaths of office and allegiance at about 1:40 pm before signing the documents formalising his return for another four-year term. Afuye had taken her oaths earlier at about 1:28 pm.
Oyebanji’s re-election makes him the first governor in Ekiti State’s history to secure a consecutive term in office. Dignitaries at the ceremony included Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Ekiti governors, APC leaders, traditional rulers and several serving state governors.
