Veteran Nigerian rapper Ruggedman has explained why he remains unmarried at 52, attributing his marital status to the demands of his music career and the end of a five-year relationship he once believed would lead to marriage.
In an interview with TheCable, the rapper, whose real name is Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, said he began his career when Nigerian musicians had to work hard to establish themselves. He noted that the demands of the industry consumed much of his time, while some colleagues, including 2Baba, found partners who understood and supported their careers.
Ruggedman disclosed that he is currently not in a relationship but insisted that he does not believe it is too late to get married. He also stated that he has vowed never to have a child outside marriage, maintaining that marriage remains possible as long as a person is alive.
