The Federal Government has approved an increase in the feeding allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members during their orientation programme, with implementation expected to begin in 2027. NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu disclosed the development while addressing members of the 2026 Batch C Stream One at the orientation camp in Obubra, Cross River State.
Nafiu said the Budget Office had been informed of the approved adjustment ahead of its planned implementation next year. He also advised corps members to manage their money carefully, develop good saving habits and avoid unnecessary spending during their service year.
The National Youth Service Corpsdirector-general further urged corps members to prioritise their safety when travelling, advising them to avoid journeys after 6 p.m. where possible. He warned against sleeping in public places or at filling stations and encouraged them to seek assistance from security agencies or contact the NYSC hotline when necessary.
