When a woman becomes less interested in sex, her partner may wonder whether attraction or the relationship has changed. However, the desire is influenced by many factors, including physical health, emotions, stress and personal experiences. A decline in interest does not automatically mean she has lost feelings for her partner.

Physical discomfort can make intimacy difficult or unpleasant. Conditions such as pelvic floor dysfunction may cause pain during intercourse , while hormonal changes associated with breastfeeding or menopause can affect sexual desire. A retroverted uterus, which tilts backwards towards the spine, is a common anatomical variation and does not necessarily cause pain, but some women may experience discomfort during certain sexual positions.

Stress can also affect a woman’s interest in intimacy. Heavy workloads, financial worries, family responsibilities and mental exhaustion may leave little room for sexual desire. Although cortisol plays a role in the body’s stress response, its relationship with libido is complex. Understanding what a partner is experiencing, communicating without pressure and seeking medical advice when pain or persistent changes occur can help couples address the issue together.
