Presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to unite across ethnic and religious lines, saying division is making it harder to address the country’s challenges. Obi made the statement during the NDC Global Digital Townhall, where he discussed issues affecting Nigerians and the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The former Anambra State governor said economic hardship and insecurity affect Nigerians regardless of their ethnic or religious background. According to Obi, poverty and insecurity have spread across the country, making national unity important in confronting the challenges facing citizens.
Obi also called for a president who would place national unity and security above ethnic and religious considerations. He said Nigeria needs leadership focused on bringing citizens together while working to improve security across the country.
